Concurrent to the closure of courts, a legal notice has been issued suspending the running of any legal and judicial terms and of any other time limits including peremptory periods applicable to proceedings or other procedures before the courts.
By virtue of Act no 1 of 2020, the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (hereafter referred to as ‘PMLA’), has been updated to reflect the recent amendments imposed by Directive (EU) 2018/843 (hereafter referred to as ‘5AMLD’) on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purposes of money laundering or terrorist financing.

The Employee Social Committee has organised a whole week full of activities for Chetcuti Cauchi lawyers and staff. The focus of this week is to promote a healthier lifestyle mentally and physically by introducing more nutritious food as well as physical exercise. Activities include healthy breakfasts, yoga sessions and presentation on mental awareness held by Richmond Foundation.

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and the Malta Police Force (MPF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further increase and improve the efficacy of their co-operation and to strengthen the exchange of information with regards to gaming operations.
The MFSA has announced that it will be launching a new technological tool for banks’ reporting to the same authority. Banks are obliged to report to the Authority prudential and financial information. The MFSA has held a session for all stakeholders on the 7th of May in order to announce this new tool.
