The Malta Residence Programme is governed by the Residence Programme Rules, 2013, which grant residency rights to EU/EEA/Swiss nationals who demonstrate economic self-sufficiency and establish a residence in Malta. Applicants must maintain a qualifying residential property either purchased or rented, on the islands of Malta or Gozo.

Malta Residence Programme Costs & Requirements

  • Applicant must be economically self-sufficient;
  • A government application fee of €6.000.
  • Applicants must purchase or rent a property;
  • Applicants should have valid travel document;
  • Applicants should have full EU health insurance cover;
  • Annual cost: €15,000 tax, for the whole family covering the first €100,000 of foreign income remitted to Malta.
