Over 200 applicants for Maltese citizenship through IIP
Although no one has actually been granted Maltese citizenship through IIP, more than 200 applications for Maltese citizenship have been received by Identity Malta representing prospective citizens from over 30 different countries. Identity Malta chief executive officer has successfully announced that the applicants so far have proven the strategic economic and social benefits which the Individual Investor Programme was intended to produce.
While many applicants visited the Maltese Islands with the intention of renting property to fulfil the residency pre-requisite to the acquisition of Maltese citizenship by investment real estate agents have observed that the intention of most of them was changed with a view to purchasing a property instead. On a positive note, more than 100 individuals had made €100 million worth of financial commitments towards Malta’s economic growth.
