Malta continues to live up to its reputation as a transhipment hub with the largest car transhipment operation happening in Malta this month.

In this operation, approximately 2,400 vehicles were released at the  Malta Freeport Terminals.  The vessel involved in this transhipment was the ro-ro ship ‘Höegh Manila’ owned by Hoegh Autoliners, a foremost worldwide provider of ro-ro vehicle transportation services, and which has a capacity huge enough to hold 5,400 vehicles on board. The ship’s arrival at the Malta Freeport followed two other calls at the ports of Chennai and Aqaba. The final destination of this transhipment operation will be the port of Benghazi.

This transhipment operation has been baptized as the largest car transhipment ever happening in Malta and follows another call at the Malta Freeport LCTC (Large Car Truck Carrier) facilities by the ship MV Fedora.

The recent transhipment operations have intensified  the assurance in the collective facilities offered by the Malta Freeport Terminals. In truth, the Malta Freeport has long established itself as a leading maritime transhipment hub renowned in both Europe and worldwide. This further compliments the success story of the Malta flag and its ever-increasing ship registry, which now vaunts to be the largest ship registry in Europe and seventh largest in the world.
