Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates, a leading Malta law firm based in Valletta, Cyprus and London, will be attending the International Tax Planning Association 2015 Berlin Meeting. The International Tax Planning Association 2015 meeting will take place on March, 15-17, in Berlin, Germany.

International Tax Planning Association

The International Tax Planning Association is a multi-disciplined association of over 1000 bankers, trust officers, finance directors, accountants, lawyers and others with a practical interest in the tax aspects of cross-frontier transactions. They examine their subject mostly from the point of view of the taxpayer; membership is limited to practitioners who act for or in the interests of taxpayers. They were founded in 1975 and are the only association devoted solely to the study of this subject. The object of the Association is to disseminate and exchange information about international tax planning. This they do in three ways – through their meetings, through their publications and via the internet.

The International Tax Planning Association 2015 Berlin Meeting

The International Tax Planning Association 2015 Berlin Meeting is the first of three meetings that are to be held this year by the International Tax Planning Association. During the International Tax Planning Association 2015 Berlin Meeting speakers will deliver their talks and, after every two talks, there is a discussion session where delegates have the opportunity to address questions to the speakers and explore their topics in more detail. The agenda of these meetings are not overcrowded – deliberately so. There are opportunities during each of the two days and at the receptions in the evenings to mingle with other members.

The topics for discussion during the Berlin Meeting will be: EU Cross-Border Succession, Base Erosion and Profit Shifting, Lost in the Ether? The Challenges of Estate Planning and Digital Assets, Disclosure of Beneficial Ownership, Tax Planning Using Partnerships, Risk Management and Tax Planning, Private Trust Companies and Wrong Turnings in International Tax Planning.

Our Tax Advisory Practice

The tax team primarily advises on domestic tax law as applicable in an international context, on the application of double tax treaties and a variety of cross border tax issues. Their interest and strong grounding in Corporate Law make them particularly well suited to advise about corporate structures. They also advises on tax issues relating to other entities or arrangements such as partnerships, foundations and trusts and the financial services sector.
