Fees for the registration of vessels under the Malta flag, namely ships and yachts, have been recently amended to reflect current global issues while taking into account the successful results achieved by the Maltese martime authority throughout recent years in attracting younger tonnage.

The recent changes in the fee structure, introduced by Legal Notice 170 of 2011, are categorised according to the class of the vessel. Fees for ancillary services have also been revised making the registration and renewal process easier and include registration of a change in the registered owner of a registered ship and the registration of mortgages.

The above amendments have come into force on 1st June 2011.
