Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates has been instrumental in the application process for the attainment of the first two fully-fledged Maltese remote gaming licences under the new regime recently launched by the Maltese Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA).

The first two full licenses were granted to their respective applicants today. Both licensees may now begin to operate through their full license, rather than under the provisional Letter of Intent which would have been granted under the previous system.

Indeed, by means of recent policies implemented by the LGA, at the end of their written submissions, applicants can now obtain a full license, rather than a preliminary license. This is being viewed as a positive step ahead in that players can now have the comfort of playing on a fully licensed operator from the beginning. The operator, on the other hand, is able to market its business as a fully fledged licensed operation from day one. It is likely that this will result in increase in volumes of transactions for operators during the first months of operation.
