Leading representatives of Malta's strong digital games industry have come together to announce the Malta Digital Games Association launch (MDGA).  This project is a long time project of Malta Law Firm Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates and a number of digital games players whom the firm advises in Malta.  The Malta Digital Games Association launch was inaugurated by Hon Minster for Economy, Investment and Small Business Christian Cardona and Hon. Parliamentary Sectary for Gaming Jose’ Herrera, with managing partner of the firm, Dr Jean-Philippe Chetcuti moderating the event. Nick Porsche of Dorado Games (now the Chairman of the MDGA) also gave a detailed briefing about the association.

Malta Digital Games Association launch emphasised that the newly formed association is an industry body aimed at promoting co-operation between digital games industry leaders in Malta, educating the public regarding digital games, and making Malta more attractive as an international digital gaming hub.

The Malta Digital Games Association launch was spearheaded by eight founding members including some of the most renowned names in the Malta digital games industry and Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates, being one of the founding members. Chetcuti Cauchi has been involved in the industry since its inception in Malta and has been at the forefront of initiatives which facilitate and promote the expansion of the industry, whilst representing investors choosing Malta as the hub for their digital games business. The Association is yet another initiative which the firm pioneered and which today was brought to live.  Sitting on the MDGA's board are the other seven founding members of the association: 4A Games, Bigpoint, Codemasters, Dorado Games, Exient, Karma Holdings and Play Magic. 

This initiative is in line with the Government strategy to in making Malta an ICT hub. During the Malta Digital Games Association launch, Hon Minster Chris Cardona emphasized the importance of supporting this industry through government initiatives that attract such investment to Malta.

During the Malta Digital Assocation Launch, Hon Parliamentary Secretary Jose Herrara whilst referring to the digital games industry as a niche industry fast growing into a new significant pillar of Malta's economy, he referred to the financial service i-gaming and maritime industry and showed the willingness of government to repeat the success of these sectors for the digital games industry in Malta.

Founding member Nick Porsche, of Malta based Dorado games, said “thanks to its skilled, English speaking workforce, Malta has achieved rapid growth in the digital games sphere, and there is a real need for this forum”, while founding member Jean-Philippe Chetcuti, of Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates, added that “while Malta is a very attractive place for digital games companies to set up their operations, there is still a lot that we can do to improve, and the Malta Digital Games Association is a step in the right direction”.
