DQR Group announces establishment of HQ in Malta

DQR Group, a renowned conglomerate of German companies in the blockchain sphere, has announced that it shall be establishing its headquarters in Malta.

Kristian Haehndel Founder and CEO of DQR noted that the regulatory environment is optimal for blockchain based businesses as Malta has set up an attractive niche for such companies which has already attracted a number of key entities to the island. He also praised the local Government’s openness for dialogue which encourages companies wishing to set up.

The Group’s presence in Malta will boost the island’s reputation as one of the world’s top hubs in the Blockchain ecosystem, and is set to employ around 265 individuals as it furthers its growth in an industry that is currently booming

Local Reaction

Local Government as well a local technology and service providers have warmly welcomed the news, as DQR’s presence in Malta is set to “cement Malta’s reputation as The Blockchain Island”,  as noted by Parliamentary Secretary Silvio Schembri.

The Parliamentary Secretary highlights, “DQR’s contribution to the Maltese Government masterplan is essential as DQR Group is a strong, strategic ally when it comes to attracting the big player to Malta’s table, thus encouraging the broader community to migrate their services to Malta, bringing us closer to fulfilling our goal of becoming the obvious choice for companies operating in this sphere.”

A proactive approach is also being taken from an educational standpoint as well, as Mr Scembri notes that discussions are underway with the University of Malta to design educational programmes aimed specifically at encouraging students to join the workforce in what could potentially be a new pillar for the Maltese economy.
