Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates' iGaming Unit has once again contributed to the Malta Remote Gaming Update. This publication is issued by the Maltese Lotteries and Gaming Authority wherein the top players within the Maltese gaming industry are given the opportunity to deliberate a topic of their choice. This publication has been issued on an annual basis since 2010 and has been widely considered as an essential guide to anyone who is interested in penetrating the iGaming industry in Malta since its inception.

Determining which topic to attribute our article to was no easy feat. However, when faced with the changes undertaken by the Authority in regard to the licensing process, which may indeed be considered one of the major events in the Maltese gaming industry throughout the year 2011, it was thought only fitting that our contribution should delve into this matter.

The scope behind the article “Malta’s New Licensing Regime – a Step Ahead?” is to analyze the amendments made to the licensing process using a hands-on approach by exploring the practical implications and the pros and cons that the new system may be expected to bring about for applicants seeking to obtain a remote gaming license.
