Malta continues to feature prominently in the financial press as the Financial Times has just featured an article on Malta's continued efforts to attract high net worth individuals. The article notes that Malta's new Highly Qualified Persons rules are designed to bolster the financial services industry. It also discusses the new High Net Worth Individuals Scheme and the various advantages accruing to persons qualifying under the scheme. The article speaks at length about the various high end luxury properties which the jurisdiction offers. While the article is critical of certain aspects of the local property market, the overall tone is very positive and will serve to further reaffirm the country's position as a centre of excellence.
