In furtherance to the aim of the Maltese Goverment to make Malta a Mediterranean yachting hub, a new public private partnership (PPP) between the Government and the Royal Malta Club was formed in March to be active in the promotion and support of the Malta yachting industry internationally.

The Malta yachting hub public private partnership has been launched with a two-year business plan having the principle mission of enhancing Malta's position on the global yachting map. On the signature of the formal agreement creating the PPP, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat empahsised the importance of the yachting industry to Malta and the commitment of the Goverment to facilitate and grow this industry. The Government will be contributing over EUR 200,000 a year to finance the Malta yachting hub public private partnership intiatives.
