Blockchain Technology endorsed by the Malta Stock Exchange

Today Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates were present to witness the historic moment in which the Malta Stock Exchange (MSE) publicly endorsed blockchain technology to provide vehicles to create the infrastructure for digital asset trading.  Through its subsidiary MSX, the Malta Stock Exchange has signed an MoU with Digital Asset Exchange OKEx and also created a joint venture OKMSX that aims to provide a platform for digital asset exchanges which would leverage the extensive security expertise of OKEx while applying client due diligence.

The Malta Stock Exchange announces new programme

The Malta Stock Exchange has announced the introduction of a new programme aimed at facilitating the process of blockchain legislation. Working alongside the reputable cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, the Malta Stock Exchange highlighted the importance of providing assistance to fintech start-ups as well as entrepreneurs interested in crypto start-ups. Therefore, the MSE Fintech Accelerator Programme has been established to provide support to companies, and mentor them throughout the lengthy process of setting up and operating. This will help them attain the high standards being achieved for international technology and media leaders within the field. Recognising the difficulties which such start-ups will face, the programme will give them access to professional business services and facilities which will incorporate in-house accounting services, payroll, office space, as well as conference rooms, high-quality communication, and a training centre.

This programme will bring to the fore Malta’s leading role as a global hub for crypto and blockchain innovations. The recently proposed regulatory framework will provide assistance to local and foreign companies who wish to successfully produce their ideas within the market, in order to do so within a shorter amount of time, and with the necessary resources.

On this historic day, MSX also signed an MoU with the Berlin-based Neufund platform which is able to tokenise virtually any asset from securities to tangible assets and issue these tokens on a secure blockchain.

Efforts by the Malta Stock Exchange applauded

A Binance spokesperson applauded Malta’s progressive approach towards a relatively new industry. The efforts taken by the MSE will allow start-ups to flourish within a highly competitive, yet undeveloped, sector. Having attended the event, the fintech team of Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates is hopeful that the programme will bring to the table various opportunities for persons who wish to venture into this sector with innovative ideas. Our Chief Executive Officer, Mr Colin B German, has also acknowledged such advance, holding that ''This is a great step for a small country that is clearly punching above its weight.  Our clients welcome these developments and see much opportunity for investment and growth in this sector.''
