International Bar Association (IBA)

The IBA boasts extensive expertise in offering support to the global legal community, exerting influence on international law reform, and shaping the future of the legal profession worldwide through its vast global membership.

Established in 1947, shortly after the inception of the United Nations, the IBA emerged with the goal of safeguarding and promoting the rule of law on a global scale. It was founded on the belief that an organization consisting of the world's bar associations could contribute to global stability and peace by facilitating the administration of justice. Over the past 75 years, the IBA has transformed from an association exclusively comprised of bar associations and law societies to one that encompasses individual international lawyers and entire law firms. The current membership exceeds 80,000 individual international lawyers hailing from leading law firms worldwide, along with representation from over 190 bar associations and law societies across more than 170 countries.
